Your duties
1. Risk assessment and technical report
For properties with a building inside, or within 300 m of, forest, forest land or grassland (ΚΥΑ 55904/2019/2023, ΦΕΚ Β' 3475/2023): a risk assessment form by a qualified technical professional and a technical report by an engineer entitled to sign under π.δ. 99/2018. Both are filed with the municipality until the electronic platform opens.
2. Annual declaration by 30 April
Each year the owner signs a declaration that the measures are in place, by 30 April.
3. Preventive measures every fire season
Access, protection zones around buildings, safe storage of flammable materials, vegetation management and an evacuation preparation plan.
4. Passive and active measures
Due since 31/03/2025 for high and very high risk and since 31/03/2026 for low and medium risk. Works needing a building permit, a change of use, or renovation over €20,000 and over 15% of the value trigger full compliance at once.
5. Fines under the regulation
After a warning period: €0.10 to €0.50 per m² by risk category (minimum €250); €100 for a missing annual declaration; €500 for each group of measures not in place.
6. Plot clearing (a separate duty)
Plots inside town plans or settlements, land up to 100 m from them, and built plots outside plans: clear between 1 April and 15 June, keep clear until 31 October, and declare on akatharista.apps.gov.gr by 15 June. Fines: €500 for neither clearing nor declaring, €1 per m² (€200 to €2,000) for not clearing, and €100 for not declaring.
7. Fire season 1 May to 31 October
Burning of vegetation and garden waste is banned. In a fire, call 112 or 199.
8. Businesses: compulsory insurance
Businesses with annual revenue over €500,000 must insure buildings and equipment against forest fire, flood and earthquake for at least 70% of their value.

This report is a screening from open satellite data for information and planning. It is not a fire forecast or warning, it does not determine the legal forest status of land, and it does not replace the signed assessment by an engineer.
